Location London, UK Why this role is remarkable * Build foundational speech models from scratch for languages and accents that big tech overlooks, impacting billions of users in Africa, the Middle East, and beyond. * Join a high-growth, ~$3M pre-seed team in London already processing 17,000+ daily calls with sub-500ms latency on proprietary, non-fine-tuned infrastructure. * Secure meaningful founding-team equity and take complete ownership of the full ML stack, mirroring the trajectory of early engineers at companies like ElevenLabs. What You Will Do * Research and develop novel speech model architectures, moving beyond simple fine-tuning to build proprietary ASR and TTS solutions for underserved markets. * Design and manage high-scale inference pipelines on Kubernetes and AWS, ensuring mission-critical reliability and sub-500ms latency for global voice applications. * Work directly with the founding team to ship new features into production weekly, impacting real-world users immediately after model training. The ideal candidate * Has 4+ years of experience shipping production-grade ML models, with specific depth in speech, audio, or low-latency inference systems. * Possesses strong MLOps skills, including hands-on experience deploying to Kubernetes on AWS and maintaining high-availability production environments. * Holds an advanced degree from a top CS/ML program and thrives in a scrappy, in-person London environment where they own technical outcomes end-to-end.
