Use your life-sciences degree to review and improve a cutting-edge medical AI system.
Aykua is a Cambridge-based, venture-backed startup developing AI systems to automate medical administration workflows accurately and efficiently. Medical admin is a huge, largely manual burden on clinics and a source of delay and error for patients; we are building the systems that make that exchange fast, accurate, and compliant at scale. We are a lean, fast-paced team with significant opportunities to grow with the company.
The Role
This role sits at the centre of Aykua’s product quality engine. Your work will help us understand where the system fails and how to improve it. You will review outputs from our proprietary AI system, assessing whether they are accurate, complete, and consistent with the underlying information. Alongside the quality review work, you will run experiments to make the system more accurate, reliable, and efficient. The role is well suited to someone with strong life-sciences knowledge and a genuine interest in growing into more technical work over time.
What You’ll Do
* Review AI-generated outputs against a structured rubric, using source material and general life-sciences knowledge to determine correctness, completeness, and consistency. This is a daily activity required to uphold Service Level Agreements with Aykua’s customers.
* Identify, classify, and document errors, inconsistencies, and hallucinations.
* Help refine our core prompts and workflows as the system evolves.
* Run focused experiments to make the system more accurate, reliable, and efficient.
* Contribute to internal documentation, examples, and quality-control processes.
What We’re Looking For
* A degree in a life-sciences subject, and the ability to understand medical and biological terminology in context.
* Exceptional attention to detail.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Care and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.
* Comfortable working independently for sustained periods, staying accurate and motivated through focused solo review work.
* Curiosity about AI systems and how they can be evaluated and improved.
Nice to have
* Experience reviewing scientific, medical, or technical information.
* Familiarity working with patient data or healthcare documentation.
* Experience using AI tools.
* Basic coding or data-analysis experience.
* Prior work in a lab, healthcare organisation, research environment, or startup.
