About the Role

ProMaterial is looking for an AI Algorithm Developer specialising in Computer Vision to join our technical team.

You will work on real-world industrial vision systems, with an initial focus on improving the accuracy, robustness and performance of our existing inspection algorithms. You will also have the opportunity to explore new computer vision approaches and contribute to the next generation of our AI inspection technology.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with real data, analysing model behaviour, running experiments and turning technical ideas into practical improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse and improve the performance of existing computer vision models.
  • Investigate model errors and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with production image datasets for training, validation and testing.
  • Develop and evaluate new approaches for visual inspection and defect detection.
  • Design and run experiments to improve model accuracy and robustness.
  • Keep up with relevant developments in computer vision and apply promising methods where appropriate.
  • Work closely with the wider engineering team to integrate algorithms into production systems.
  • Document experiments, results and technical decisions.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong understanding of computer vision, machine learning and deep learning.
  • Good Python programming skills.
  • Experience with modern deep-learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
  • Practical experience training or evaluating computer vision models.
  • Familiarity with areas such as object detection, classification, segmentation or anomaly detection.
  • Ability to analyse problems independently and approach model improvement systematically.
  • Comfortable working with real-world datasets and imperfect production data.
  • Curious, practical and willing to explore new technical approaches.

Nice to Have

Experience in any of the following is a plus

  • Industrial visual inspection or manufacturing applications.
  • YOLO or similar detection frameworks.
  • OpenCV and image processing.
  • Vision Transformers or other modern vision architectures.
  • Model deployment and inference optimisation.
  • Research experience in computer vision or machine learning.

Background

We welcome candidates from both industry and academic backgrounds, including Computer Vision, AI, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Robotics, Electronic Engineering or related disciplines.

We value demonstrated technical ability and problem-solving skills more than any specific qualification.

Why Join ProMaterial

You will have the opportunity to work directly on production AI systems, influence the technical direction of our computer vision stack, and contribute to the development of new AI technologies for manufacturing and industrial inspection.
