AI Systems Engineer – Python / AI-Assisted Development

Andover – Hybrid (3 days per week onsite)

We are looking for two experienced

AI Systems Engineers

to join a growing technology team and help shape a modern, AI-native approach to software engineering.

This is not simply a traditional development role with some AI tooling added. You will use your software engineering expertise to

direct, supervise and validate AI agents throughout the development lifecycle – using AI to accelerate delivery while retaining ownership of the quality, security, performance and maintainability of the solutions produced.

You will design technical solutions, break complex requirements into tasks that can be executed by AI agents, review and refine AI-generated code, and build Python-based applications, APIs, integrations and automation solutions. The wider role includes testing, deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement.

We are looking for experience across

  • Strong commercial

Python software development

  • REST APIs, SQL databases and Git
  • Software architecture, testing, debugging and code quality
  • Building applications, services, integrations and automation
  • AI-assisted development tools and/or agent-based development workflows
  • Reviewing and validating AI-generated code rather than simply accepting its output
  • CI/CD, Docker, cloud environments or event-driven architectures would be advantageous
  • JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Flask or FastAPI would also be beneficial

The key is that we are not looking for someone who simply knows how to prompt AI tools. We want an experienced software engineer who understands how good software should be designed, built and maintained, and who is excited by the opportunity to use AI agents to significantly increase the speed and effectiveness of software delivery.
