Our client, a leading global investment firm, is looking for an Applied AI Enablement Engineer in London to help embed practical AI capabilities across its fundamental investment teams. You will join a multidisciplinary group of data scientists, analysts and engineers, working directly with portfolio managers, researchers and senior business stakeholders. This is a highly front-office-facing role where you will identify valuable use cases, understand research workflows and translate complex or ambiguous problems into AI solutions that people genuinely adopt.

Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with investment teams to understand research workflows, uncover problems and identify high-value opportunities for AI.
  • Act as the bridge between business users and technical teams, translating loosely defined requirements into practical solution and platform designs.
  • Develop lightweight proofs of concept to test feasibility and demonstrate value before larger build decisions are made.
  • Drive adoption through workshops, prompt and tool education, best-practice sharing and hands-on support for users.
  • Assess the effectiveness of AI solutions, communicate limitations clearly and feed user insights back into the wider technology roadmap.

Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience in a client-facing product, solutions engineering, consulting or forward-deployed role, with the maturity to work closely with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of modern AI and LLM tooling, including prompting, model APIs, retrieval-augmented generation, agents and evaluation approaches.
  • Working knowledge of Python, SQL, data platforms and solution architecture, with enough technical depth to assess feasibility and guide delivery.
  • A demonstrable ability to gather requirements from non-technical users and turn them into solutions that deliver measurable value and adoption.
  • A calm, consultative and commercially minded approach, with strong communication skills, sound judgement and comfort operating in ambiguous environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys sitting at the intersection of AI, product, data and investment research. You do not need to be a pure software engineer or already work within a hedge fund. The strongest candidates will be technically credible, naturally curious and able to earn the trust of demanding business users without overselling a solution.
