We’re hiring on behalf of an early-stage, product-led SaaS company building a collaboration and content-management platform for a global customer base.
The product is live, the company is generating revenue and the team is entering its next stage of development.
We are not looking for a traditional Full-Stack Engineer who waits for tickets and works within a narrowly defined part of the stack.
We’re looking for an
AI Product Engineer
who can take a customer or business problem from idea → prototype → production.
You’ll work closely with the company’s technical and product leadership, take meaningful ownership of what gets built and help define how a modern AI-native engineering team should operate.
Start date:
ASAP
Location:
Remote-first and UK-based, with occasional team meetings in London
Right to work:
Candidates must have the right to work in the UK
Equity:
Employee share options are available
Please note:
Nexa is managing the shortlist and screening process. Your first conversation will be with Nexa’s AI voice agent, with every recommendation reviewed by an experienced recruiter.
What Is an AI Product Engineer?
This role sits across product, UX and engineering.
You won’t simply receive fully specified tickets. You’ll be expected to understand the problem, question assumptions, explore possible solutions and use modern AI tools to move quickly from concept to working product.
You should naturally use tools such as:
* Claude
* ChatGPT
* Cursor
* Claude Code
* Codex
* GitHub Copilot
* Lovable
* MCP tools and agents
* Other emerging AI development platforms
We don’t want someone who has recently added an AI certification to an otherwise conventional engineering profile.
We want someone already using AI every day to research, prototype, build, test, debug and ship better products.
What You’ll Do
* Take customer and business problems from initial idea through to production.
* Build and ship customer-facing features across the product.
* Rapidly prototype potential solutions before committing to a full implementation.
* Work across product thinking, UX, frontend, backend and cloud infrastructure.
* Use AI coding agents and copilots throughout discovery, implementation, testing and debugging.
* Build AI-powered features, agents, integrations and internal workflows where they create genuine value.
* Translate incomplete or ambiguous requirements into practical product decisions.
* Speak with product, commercial and technical colleagues to understand what should be built and why.
* Test ideas with users and use feedback, data and experiments to improve them.
* Take responsibility for code quality, security and maintainability, including when code has been AI-generated.
* Contribute to architecture, AWS services, delivery pipelines and engineering practices.
* Help shape how the company uses AI across product development.
The Current Technology Environment
You do not need to match every technology perfectly, but you must be comfortable learning quickly and working across a modern product stack.
* Frontend:
React and Tailwind CSS
* Backend:
Python and Django
* Database:
PostgreSQL
* Cloud:
AWS, including Lambda, S3, Cognito and API Gateway
* Delivery:
GitHub Actions, infrastructure as code, containerisation and CI/CD
* AI development:
Coding agents, LLM APIs, MCP tools and rapid prototyping platforms
Experience with Next.js, serverless systems or equivalent modern technologies is also relevant.
What We’re Looking For
We care more about what you have built, how quickly you learn and how you approach problems than a specific number of years in engineering.
You should demonstrate:
* Evidence of taking products or substantial features from idea to production.
* AI tools embedded into your normal development workflow.
* Strong product judgement and an understanding of customer and commercial outcomes.
* The ability to work across product, UX and engineering rather than remaining within one narrow specialism.
* Experience building modern web applications using technologies such as React, Python, Django, Next.js or comparable frameworks.
* Experience working with APIs, databases and cloud infrastructure.
* The ability to prototype quickly without losing responsibility for production quality.
* Comfort making progress when requirements are incomplete.
* A willingness to challenge whether something should be built, not only how to build it.
* Clear communication with technical and non-technical colleagues.
* Curiosity and the ability to adopt new tools quickly.
You do not need to be a machine-learning engineer.
We care about whether you can use modern AI capabilities to build products customers genuinely value.
Why Join?
* Become an influential early member of a small, experienced product team.
* Work on a live product with active customers and strong market validation.
* Own problems and outcomes rather than simply completing tickets.
* Build and release customer-facing features quickly.
* Use modern AI tools as a core part of product development.
* Work closely with technical, product and commercial leadership.
* Operate with autonomy and minimal bureaucracy.
* Help define what an AI-native engineering organisation should look like.
* Participate in an employee share option scheme.
* Work in a flexible, remote-first environment.
This role is for someone who doesn’t just want to use AI.
It is for someone who wants to rethink how products are designed, built and shipped.
