AI Engineer – Applied AI \& LLM Systems \& ML Location: United Kingdom – Remote Employment type: Full-time, permanent Salary: £65,000–£75,000 per year, depending on experience About Vyera Vyera is building an AI-powered platform that helps businesses understand their market, monitor competitors, identify opportunities and turn intelligence into action. Vyera’s specialised agents analyse live signals, identify opportunities and produce useful outputs across intelligence, marketing, strategy and execution. We are looking for an Applied AI Engineer to help build the systems behind these capabilities. The role You will design, build, evaluate and productionise AI workflows across the Vyera platform. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on reliable applied AI—not standalone demos. You will work on agentic workflows, model orchestration, retrieval, structured outputs, evaluation systems and production monitoring. You will work closely with product and engineering to turn complex requirements into dependable customer-facing capabilities. What you’ll be responsible for * Designing and implementing production-grade LLM workflows * Building specialised agents for research, analysis, content and execution * Developing orchestration across models, tools, APIs and internal data * Building retrieval and grounding systems for relevant, traceable outputs * Designing prompt, context and structured-output architectures * Creating automated evaluations for accuracy, relevance and consistency * Reducing hallucinations and identifying failure modes before release * Comparing models based on quality, speed, reliability and cost * Building reusable AI services and internal tooling * Monitoring model performance, latency, token usage and production failures * Implementing fallbacks, retries and safeguards for unreliable outputs * Working with backend engineers to integrate AI services into the wider platform * Documenting technical decisions and maintaining clear engineering standards * Contributing to security, privacy and responsible AI practices What we’re looking for * At least three years of professional software, machine-learning or AI engineering experience * Strong Python development skills * Experience integrating LLM APIs into production applications * Experience with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or comparable model providers * Understanding of prompt architecture, tool calling and structured outputs * Experience building retrieval-augmented generation systems * Experience creating evaluations for non-deterministic AI outputs * Strong understanding of APIs, databases and asynchronous workflows * Ability to write clean, maintainable and testable production code * Experience diagnosing model and system failures * Good understanding of security and data-handling considerations * Ability to communicate technical trade-offs clearly * Strong ownership and independent problem-solving skills Useful but not essential * Experience with agent frameworks or custom orchestration systems * Experience with vector databases and semantic retrieval * Experience with embeddings, reranking and hybrid search * Experience with AWS, Docker and CI/CD * Experience with model observability or LLM evaluation platforms * Familiarity with MongoDB, Redis and queue-based systems * Experience fine-tuning or adapting models * Experience building AI features for B2B SaaS products * Experience with web scraping, data pipelines or competitive intelligence We value evidence of production work more than knowledge of every new framework. You should be able to explain what you built, how it was evaluated and how it behaved once real users interacted with it. What you’ll get * £65,000–£75,000 annual salary, based on experience * A full-time, permanent position * Remote working * Ownership of core AI capabilities used throughout the product * The opportunity to build applied AI systems beyond basic API wrappers * Meaningful influence over Vyera’s AI architecture and standards * Close collaboration with product and engineering * Paid annual leave and workplace pension in accordance with your employment terms and eligibility Our hiring process 1. Application and experience review 2. Short introductory conversation 3. Technical interview focused on production systems you have built 4. Practical system-design or coding assessment 5. Final conversation and offer We do not use unpaid multi-day projects. How to apply Apply through LinkedIn with your CV and include: * Your GitHub, portfolio, technical writing or relevant project links * A short description of an AI system you have shipped * How you evaluated its quality and reliability * Your specific contribution to the system * Your current notice period Vyera is committed to an inclusive recruitment process. Applicants are assessed on their ability, experience and suitability for the position.
