Practice Area

BCG's Insurance Practice serves four industry sectors: Life insurance, Property \& Casualty, Commercial \& Reinsurance and Health, as well as Insurance brokerage firms. The practice works on the full range of issues of concern to top management, from strategy to operating model redesign, digital transformation, cost, process improvement, risk management strategy, asset management, product development, customer focus, and sales force effectiveness. We have a strong global network and "on-the-ground" experience in all major markets. The Global Practice currently comprises over 200 senior staff and works in Europe, Middle East, the Americas, and Asia Pacific, with a total of 44 insurance active offices worldwide. Our client base is the world's leading global and regional insurance and reinsurance companies and investment and wealth managers. The members of the Insurance Team combine relevant regulatory, technical and analytical know-how with the BCG core competencies: planning, steering and strategy for top management. What You'll Do

As a Project Leader in BCG’s Insurance Practice, you will advise leading insurers and reinsurers on how AI is reshaping their businesses and the competitive landscape. You will work with senior insurance leaders on strategic questions spanning where to play, how to win, and how emerging AI capabilities could change economics, sources of competitive advantage and business models across the insurance value chain.

You will combine deep insurance expertise with a practical understanding of AI to distinguish meaningful strategic opportunities from technology hype. Working collaboratively with BCG colleagues across insurance, strategy, data, AI, and technology, you will bring together different perspectives to help clients make clear strategic choices and translate those choices into business impact.

Your responsibilities will include

• Advise C-suite insurance leaders on how AI is changing industry economics, competitive advantage, and strategic priorities.
• Frame and lead complex, ambiguous strategic questions across underwriting, pricing, claims, distribution, and reinsurance.
• Assess how GenAI, agentic AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics can reshape insurance decisions, capabilities, and business models.
• Develop clear perspectives on where insurers should invest, differentiate, partner, or transform as AI capabilities evolve.
• Lead case teams from problem definition and hypothesis development through analysis, recommendations, and executive decision-making, creating clarity and an inclusive team environment.
• Engage senior clients in constructive dialogue, listening to different perspectives while using evidence and expertise to challenge assumptions and shape decisions.
• Collaborate with BCG insurance, AI, data, and technology experts to connect strategic ambition with credible paths to execution.
• Contribute to strengthening BCG’s Insurance Practice and its capabilities at the intersection of insurance strategy and AI.

What You'll Bring

• 6+ years of strategy consulting experience, including leading complex engagements and advising senior executives.
• Deep commercial insurance expertise, with strength in underwriting, claims, or related P\&C insurance domains.
• Strategic judgment, connecting industry shifts to insurance economics, competitive advantage, and business-model choices.
• Practical depth in AI, including GenAI, agentic AI, machine learning, and their implications for insurance.
• Ability to structure ambiguous problems, develop hypotheses, and translate analysis into clear executive recommendations.
• Ability to build credibility with C-suite leaders, listen to different perspectives, and constructively influence complex decisions.
• Inclusive case leadership, creating clarity, supporting team development, and collaborating effectively across insurance, AI, data, and technology disciplines.

Who You'll Work With

You’ll be part of BCG’s Insurance Practice, based in London and working with colleagues across EMESA on some of the most important strategic questions facing commercial insurers. You’ll collaborate closely with BCG experts across insurance, strategy, AI, data, and technology, bringing together different experiences and perspectives to solve complex client challenges.

You’ll work with case teams and senior BCG leaders to advise executives across commercial insurers, reinsurers, and the London Market. You’ll also contribute to strengthening BCG’s capabilities at the intersection of commercial insurance and AI, sharing expertise, learning from others, and developing perspectives with colleagues across the broader Insurance Practice.
