Who are Benifex?

💚💜

We are a fast-moving technology company, and one of the most successful providers of online reward and benefits solutions in the world. We believe that everyone deserves an exceptional experience at work, every day, and build workplace technology that makes this happen. Benifex’s mission is to build remarkable experiences that employees love. Today Benifex supports more than five million employees in over 3,000 organisations across more than 100 countries. To help us on our quest to be the best, we need brilliant people on board and that’s where you come in. 🚀

Why should you apply? 🌟

  • Impact: be the single biggest lever for AI-native adoption across the engineering organisation.
  • Reach: your tooling and enablement work supports our engineering squads globally across our office locations and our distributed remote teams.
  • Autonomy: real ownership over how we scale AI adoption from here, you'll shape the next chapter of a journey already underway
  • Top 10 Employer, Sunday Times Best Places to Work Awards and Best Large Tech Company to Work for 2025
  • Work for a profitable, fast-growing market leader in the online reward and benefits space

Role Overview 🚀

We are building a world-class AI-augmented engineering culture, and this role is the engine behind that transformation. This is a practical, hands on engineering role, not an advisory or strategy function.

You'll build the tooling, agents and reusable practice that let engineers across Product Engineering work faster with AI through the SDLC, working directly alongside teams to embed that into how we actually ship software.

While Product Engineering is your primary focus, you will also extend the patterns you build and prove out here to other parts of the business, adapting your solutions to fit how they work. You'll work closely with our AI Architect, who is just as hands-on as you are. Together, you’ll shape the shared patterns, guardrails, and direction for AI across engineering, turning them into tools, platforms, and practices that teams actually adopt.

Please note we are unable to offer visa sponsorship and require to people to be based in the UK or Sweden for this position

Great Benefits

💰 £85,000-125,000 (or Swedish Krona equivalent)

💻 Tech setup of your choice (MacBook Pro or equivalent, monitors, etc.)

📚 £/€800 annual learning budget, plus two hours per week as ‘Focus Fridays’.

🤸 Remote first from UK or hybrid from Stockholm/Gothenburg offices

🌟 Location-specific benefits

🎁 Full access to our award-winning benefits platform

💳 £50 monthly allowance to spend on whatever takes your fancy, your very own Benifex card will be topped up at the start of each month!

Responsibilities 🤘

  • Builds and maintains the paved road for AI-supported engineering: reusable agent configurations, prompt libraries, evaluation frameworks, and internal tools.
  • Works alongside the AI Architect to shape and build the shared patterns, guardrails and tools that teams adopt
  • Owns rollout and configuration of coding agents across the engineering toolchain, partnering with Platform Engineering on model mix and access
  • Evaluates new models, tools and emerging patterns and turns them into practice that teams actually adopt
  • Builds lightweight internal services and agents that plug into existing systems to remove toil at the team level, not just the individual level
  • Partners directly with Engineering Directors and their teams to redesign parts of the SDLC around AI, through hands on pairing rather than a document handover
  • Defines and tracks adoption and impact metrics alongside our developer experience platform work, with real numbers on usage, cycle time and quality
  • Embeds responsible AI standards directly into the tools and workflows we build
  • Mentors engineers directly and influences decisions where AI tooling intersects with platform design
  • Extends proven tooling and enablement practice beyond Product Engineering, adapting it for other departments' tools and ways of working

What are we looking for? 🔎

  • A proven, evidenced track record of building tools and enabling engineers directly within developer experience, platform engineering or internal tooling, with concrete examples of things you shipped that other engineers now rely on
  • Strong software engineering background (5+ years), able to write production code in a modern stack, not just prototypes or theory
  • Practical experience building value with AI and large language models, and a track record of bringing wider engineering teams along with you rather than just handing them a finished output
  • Comfortable using AI coding tools day to day in your own work
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, this role defines its own remit as it goes, and you'll be one of the first dedicated people at Benifex doing it
  • Able to translate technical tooling and practice for a non engineering audience
  • Genuine appetite to help define AI native engineering, not just adopt an existing playbook

Even if you don't meet all of the requirements for this role, we encourage you to apply! We are looking for talented and passionate individuals who are eager to learn and grow. We also offer a variety of other roles, so please check out our careers page to see if there is something else that might be a good fit for you.
