Head of Digital Solutions \& AI Enablement

Direct Tool Company is an established and growing B2B business supplying customers across automotive, aerospace, defence, marine and advanced manufacturing.

We're looking for a commercially minded Head of Digital Solutions \& AI Enablement to help us identify, develop and deliver practical technology solutions across our business.

This is not a traditional IT role

We're not looking for an IT Manager or software developer.

We want someone who understands business and customers, and understands technology well enough to turn ideas into working solutions quickly.

You'll work closely with senior leadership and teams across the business to identify where digital tools, automation, data and AI can improve customer experience, productivity and decision-making.

Most importantly, you'll be expected to make things happen.

What you'll do

  • Identify high-value opportunities for digital improvement across the business.
  • Develop and deliver practical digital solutions.
  • Explore and implement appropriate uses of AI and automation.
  • Improve customer and employee experiences through technology.
  • Work with different departments to understand problems and turn them into solutions.
  • Manage external developers, technology partners and suppliers.
  • Translate commercial requirements into clear development priorities.
  • Challenge timescales, costs and complexity.
  • Improve the use and accessibility of business data.
  • Drive adoption of new technology across the organisation.
  • Manage multiple projects and keep delivery moving at pace.
  • Measure the commercial and operational impact of improvements.

Who we're looking for

You may currently work in digital product management, digital transformation, business transformation, automation or technology-enabled change.

You don't need to be a developer.

You do need to understand technology well enough to challenge technical specialists and get projects delivered.

You'll be

  • Highly commercial and results-focused.
  • Practical rather than theoretical.
  • Comfortable working with developers and technology partners.
  • Able to turn business problems into clear solutions.
  • Good at prioritising what really matters.
  • Comfortable challenging unnecessary complexity.
  • An excellent communicator.
  • Confident working with senior leadership.
  • Able to bring people with you through change.
  • Impatient for progress and focused on delivery.

What success looks like

This role will be judged on results rather than activity.

We want to see useful solutions delivered, adopted and creating measurable improvements.

You'll have significant freedom to identify opportunities, challenge existing ways of working and introduce better ones.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to be close to the business, work directly with decision-makers and have a visible impact on how an organisation uses technology.

Pay: £75,000.00-£100,000.00 per year
