Generative AI Engineer

GenAI Engineer - London - £140k + bonus

RJC Group are currently partnered with a Major Financial Services company based in London, looking for a GenAI Engineer to join their growing AI team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, define AI standards and directly interact with the business.

What you'll do

• Build RAG services: document ingestion, parsing, chunking, indexing, retrieval, reranking, context assembly
• Develop shared platform capabilities for LLM applications, agentic systems and enterprise knowledge solutions
• Define reference architectures, engineering standards and implementation patterns for GenAI applications
• Design agentic workflows that safely interact with internal APIs, databases, search systems and third-party services
• Set standards for tool contracts, structured outputs, context management, prompting, model selection and routing
• Build reusable components, APIs and libraries for other engineering teams
• Evaluate LLM, retrieval and agent performance via automated metrics, test datasets and regression testing
• Guide decisions on model quality, latency, cost, observability and operational resilience

What we're looking for

• Track record delivering LLM-based applications or AI platforms in production
• Foundation-model APIs/platforms — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Vertex AI, AWS Bedrock
• Python-based API/service development, ideally with async frameworks
• Agent frameworks and orchestration tools — LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, or similar
• LLM evaluation, observability, tracing and regression testing
• Prompt management, model routing, structured-output generation
• Cloud deployment and containerised production AI service
• Strong software engineering fundamentals across the full production lifecycle
• Degree in computer science, ML, AI, data science, math, stats or related field — or equivalent experience
