The UCL Division of Psychiatry, located within the Faculty of Brain Sciences, is a world-renowned centre of excellence in mental health research. Our mission is to improve mental health through cutting-edge research and education. By leveraging insights from basic science, we address clinical problems with the aim of improving patient outcomes and public health. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our research team to develop an AI chatbot to improve recruitment of people with intellectual disabilities and autistic people to clinical trials. This is an NIHR funded study. We are working with AI expert from the Centre for Advanced Research Computing at UCL and Kyung Hee University, Seoul, Republic of Korea.

As part of our friendly and highly collaborative research team, you will play a key role in shaping each stage of this study.

You’ll be working alongside passionate clinicians, researchers, trialists and research partners from UCL and South Korea along with experts by experience within a supportive environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in neurodevelopmental research, clinical trials and AI.

About the role

Duties and responsibilities

You will support the AI experts at UCL to develop an AI chatbot through various research methodologies such as qualitative interviews, supporting the PPIE group, recruitment of participants to a feasibility study and writing a grant application (see the JD).

Appointment details

• The post is graded on the non-clinical research staff Pay Scale Grade 7, with an annual salary ranging from £45,103 to £52,586 (including London Allowance), pro rata.
• The appointment is funded till 30th June 2028.
• Any offer of employment will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
• *Research Fellows* - 'Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Grade 6B (salary £39,148 - £41,833 annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD Thesis.'
