About Bitcast
Bitcast is a technology company building decentralised infrastructure for creator marketing, powered by the Bittensor network.
One of the core problems we solve is identifying who actually matters within specific online ecosystems.
We currently map four distinct ecosystems on X, analysing the relationships and interactions between thousands of accounts to identify the creators, people and communities that carry influence within each network.
Our current methodology is built around PageRank, with additional proprietary signals layered on top.
We’re now looking for an Applied Data Scientist to take ownership of this system and make it significantly better.
The role
This is a hands-on role at the intersection of data science, graph analysis and product.
You’ll own the algorithms used to map and rank accounts across our ecosystems.
Importantly, we don’t expect one algorithm to work equally well everywhere. Different ecosystems behave differently, and a major part of the role will be understanding those differences, experimenting with changes and determining what produces the most accurate representation of each network.
You’ll have four live ecosystems to work with from day one, with more being added over the coming months.
What you’ll work on
* Own and improve our PageRank-based mapping methodology
* Fine-tune ranking algorithms for individual ecosystems
* Design and test additional ranking signals
* Run experiments and backtest algorithm changes
* Measure whether changes genuinely improve mapping quality
* Monitor ecosystem health and identify anomalies
* Analyse creator churn and changes in network structure
* Build automated reporting and monitoring dashboards
* Analyse creator, campaign and network performance
* Turn complex datasets into useful product and business intelligence
What we’re looking for
We’re particularly interested in people with experience in:
* Python
* Graph/network analysis
* PageRank or related graph algorithms
* NetworkX or similar graph-analysis tooling
* Statistical analysis and experimentation
* Backtesting and model evaluation
* Data visualisation and monitoring
* Working with large, messy real-world datasets
Experience with social networks, recommendation/ranking systems, computational social science or creator/social-media data would be particularly relevant.
You don’t need previous crypto experience.
We actively use AI tools across the business and want someone who uses them to move faster, while still understanding the underlying data and methodology.
The setup
This is a
full-time, fully remote role
.
Compensation:
Competitive salary based on experience. Payment can be made in GBP or cryptocurrency, depending on preference.
We’re based in the UK and would particularly welcome candidates in
Manchester or the North West
, simply because it would be useful to meet in person occasionally. However, we’re open to excellent candidates anywhere in the UK.
* You’ll be joining a small team, so this isn’t a role where you’ll be handed narrowly defined analysis tickets. You’ll have substantial ownership over an important part of Bitcast’s technology and the freedom to experiment with how we improve it.
