AI Developer (Azure / Co-pilot Studio / AI Foundry) Hybrid (2–3 days onsite, Guildford) | Public Sector | Permanent Salary \& Benefits * £47,000 – £60,000 (flexible for the right candidate) * 30 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays * 15% employer pension contribution * Plus an extensive benefits package and excellent work-life balance The Opportunity Gravitas are working with a large, forward-thinking organisation investing heavily in enterprise AI enablement across the Microsoft ecosystem. With foundational licensing already in place (including Copilot Studio and Azure AI Foundry) and early-stage prototypes underway, they are now looking for a hands-on AI Developer to take ownership of building out capability, standards and scalable solutions. This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to set up and shape the AI function, defining how AI is designed, governed and deployed across a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. The Role You’ll sit within a well-established Microsoft-first IT function responsible for M365, Power Platform and Dynamics services, and take a leading role in embedding AI across the organisation. The position blends low-code and pro-code AI development, with a strong focus on real-world deployment rather than experimentation. Key focus areas include: * Copilot Studio: building internal copilots, knowledge assistants and automated workflows * Azure AI Foundry: developing advanced, Python-based solutions in secure environments * Creating enterprise-ready AI solutions, not just prototypes * Establishing governance, guardrails and best practices from the ground up Key Responsibilities * Design, develop and implement AI solutions using Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Services and Azure ML * Build and deploy solutions across Copilot Studio and Power Platform * Lead on RAG patterns, prompt engineering and enterprise AI architecture * Take ownership of environment strategy, ALM and deployment pipelines * Define and implement AI governance, security and ethical frameworks * Work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to shape requirements * Mature early-stage prototypes into scalable, production-ready services * Act as a go-to SME for AI, supporting wider adoption across the organisation What They’re Looking For Essential * Proven experience with Azure AI services * Demonstrable delivery of AI solutions within an enterprise IT environment * Strong understanding of: * ALM, environments and deployment strategies * Security, governance and Responsible AI principles * Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of delivery * Experience translating ambiguous requirements into practical solutions Desirable * Python and pro-code AI development experience * Exposure to Copilot Studio or similar low-code AI platforms * Knowledge of RAG, vector search and orchestration frameworks (e.g. LangChain) * Experience establishing standards and guardrails from scratch * Potential to take on technical leadership or mentoring responsibilities Candidate Profile This role is best suited to someone who: * Can operate independently and “run with” initiatives without heavy oversight * Brings enterprise IT maturity, not just academic or experimental exposure to AI * Understands how to move from prototype to production * Enjoys shaping frameworks, governance and best practice * Wants to play a key role in a growing and evolving AI capability Why Apply? * Opportunity to define and shape AI capability from the ground up * Work within a mature Microsoft environment with strong internal backing * Exposure to both low-code and advanced AI engineering use cases * High-impact role with visibility across the organisation * Excellent benefits and long-term stability Details * Hybrid working (2–3 days onsite in Guildford) * Flexible working environment * Occasional out-of-hours work required for key releases or support Interested?
