AI Engineer | Agentic AI | London Competitive Salary + Equity + Outstanding Benefits AI agents are moving beyond simple chat interfaces. The next generation of AI systems will be able to reason, use tools, interact with software and autonomously complete complex tasks. We're partnering with a well-funded technology company building exactly that. They're looking for an AI Engineer with strong software engineering fundamentals to help design and build the systems behind their next generation of agentic AI . This is an engineering-heavy AI role. You'll be working on agent architecture, orchestration, tool use, memory and evaluation , while building the production-quality infrastructure needed to make these systems reliable and scalable. You won't just be integrating an LLM into an existing application. You'll be engineering the agents themselves . What you'll get to do * Design and build AI agents capable of completing complex, multi-step tasks * Develop agent architectures covering reasoning, planning, memory, tool use and decision-making * Build systems that allow agents to interact with APIs, databases, external services and other software * Develop agent orchestration and workflow systems , including multi-agent architectures * Work on context management, retrieval and techniques for improving agent performance * Build evaluation and testing frameworks to measure agent reliability and performance * Experiment with different models and approaches before turning successful ideas into robust production systems * Solve challenging engineering problems around reliability, scalability, latency and autonomy * Build the underlying software infrastructure required to run agents reliably in production * Work closely with other engineers and AI specialists to shape the technical direction of the platform You'll be a strong fit if you have * Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building production-quality systems * Strong experience with Python or another modern programming language * Hands-on experience with LLMs, AI agents or agentic AI , either professionally or through serious personal projects * An understanding of concepts such as tool calling, RAG, agent orchestration, context management, memory or multi-agent systems * Experience designing and building APIs, backend systems or distributed software * A strong understanding of software architecture, testing and writing maintainable code * A genuine curiosity about how AI systems can become more capable and autonomous * Strong problem-solving ability and the ability to work through ambiguous technical problems You don't need to come from a traditional ML research background. We're particularly interested in strong software engineers who understand LLMs and agentic systems and want to spend their time building them. What you'll get in return * Cutting-edge AI: Build the next generation of agentic AI systems * Engineering depth: Work on the difficult software problems required to make agents actually work in production * Technical ownership: Have significant influence over the architecture and direction of the platform * Rapid development: Work alongside highly capable engineers and AI specialists * Real-world impact: Build agents designed to solve meaningful, complex problems * Constant experimentation: Work with rapidly evolving models, techniques and architectures * Equity: Have genuine ownership in the company you're helping to build If you're a strong software engineer who wants to move deeper into AI and build the agents themselves , rather than simply integrate AI into an existing product, I'd be happy to tell you more.
