Software Engineer - AI Product Start-up I’m working with a high-growth HealthTech company building genuinely useful AI products for healthcare , and they’re now looking for an exceptional engineer to join the team as they scale. This is one of those roles that could suit someone who’s found themselves wanting more ownership, more product influence and closer proximity to the customer than you typically get in a larger technology company. You’ll be working on their core AI product, building technology that is already being used in real healthcare environments. The role sits somewhere between product engineering, applied AI and Forward Deployed Engineering - you'll be writing code, but you’ll also spend time with customers understanding problems, figuring out what should be built and then taking it through to production. The problems are genuinely interesting: LLM-powered workflows, agents, tool use, structured data, integrations and building systems that need to be reliable enough to operate in the real world. You’ll have a high level of ownership and plenty of room to influence both the product and the technical direction. What you'll be doing * Building and shipping AI-powered product features end-to-end * Working across TypeScript, Python, APIs, databases and cloud infrastructure * Developing LLM/agentic workflows that can interact with real systems and data * Working directly with customers and understanding how the product performs in practice * Turning ambiguous problems into simple, scalable solutions * Thinking about the less glamorous (but important) side of production AI - reliability, evaluation, latency, cost and failure modes * Working closely with product and engineering to shape what gets built next * Having genuine ownership rather than simply implementing someone else's spec Who I'm keen to speak to You don't necessarily need to be a “Forward Deployed Engineer”. They're more interested in strong software engineers who have moved into AI and enjoy building things from scratch. You'll ideally have: * 3+ years of production software engineering experience * Ability to work in a customer facing environment * Strong Python and/or TypeScript * Experience building and shipping LLM/AI products , rather than just experimenting with them * Strong engineering fundamentals across APIs, databases and cloud * An appetite for ambiguity and ownership * The sort of mindset where, if you see something that needs doing, you get on with it
