Junior Machine Learning Engineer London (Hybrid) £50,000 - £60,000 + Exceptional L\&D Budget We're partnering with an ambitious and highly technical EdTech start up to make personalised, high-quality education accessible to everyone through machine learning. Their flagship product is already helping English language learners improve their skills through intelligent, data-driven tutoring. Now, they're expanding their Machine Learning team and seeking a Junior ML Engineer to help build next-generation learning models capable of predicting student knowledge and recommending the optimum next learning activity. Responsibilities * As part of a growing ML team, you'll work on real-world machine learning challenges using a unique and extensive dataset. * Building predictive machine learning models that improve learning outcomes * Working with data from more than 1 million language tests, including text and voice datasets * Developing and refining NLP-driven educational tools and assessment methods * Analysing large-scale and diverse datasets to uncover insights and improve model performance * Fine-tuning machine learning models for scalability, accuracy, and efficiency * Collaborating closely with software engineers and product specialists in a highly cross-functional environment * Contributing to the creation of innovative learning technologies that can be applied across multiple languages and subjects Ideal profile * Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning or related discipline * Strong Python programming skills * Understanding of machine learning algorithms and evaluation metrics * Knowledge of Neural Networks, CNNs, RNNs and Transformer architectures * Exposure to Natural Language Processing (NLP) * Experience using libraries such as Pandas and NumPy * Familiarity with automated ML workflows or pipelines Nice to Haves * Experience building ML solutions end-to-end, from data preparation to production monitoring * Knowledge of CI/CD and MLOps practices * Experience with Reinforcement Learning * Experience working with voice/audio datasets * Ability to speak more than one language * Contributions to the ML community through blogs, talks, videos or open-source projects This would suit a recent grad or second jobber looking to make their next step up looking for an opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI technology whilst helping redefine the future of education.
