A large national professional services firm is building a specialist AI engineering capability inside its technology function, and is looking for a senior engineer to help lead the build.
This is a hands-on role. The team designs and ships AI agents and automated workflows that go into live use across the business, so the work is production engineering rather than proof of concept. You would be one of the more experienced engineers in a small team, setting the technical standards, leading design and code reviews, and bringing on the less experienced engineers alongside your own delivery.
The stack is Microsoft. Python for services and pipelines, Azure AI and Copilot Studio for the agent and workflow layer, REST and GraphQL for integration, and the usual CI/CD, containerisation and monitoring around it.
What they are looking for:
* Strong Python engineering, including API design, async work, testing and modular code
* Experience taking LLM or agent-based systems into production, not just prototypes
* A good understanding of agent patterns, orchestration and where LLMs fall down
* Azure experience across AI services, Functions and containers
* Comfortable owning deployment, reliability and observability
* Someone who can work quickly in a fast-moving area without dropping engineering discipline
Experience in a regulated or financial environment is useful, as is anything around prompt evaluation, versioning or AI governance, but neither is essential.
