* Job Title: Algorithm Engineer * Department: Engineering * Reports To: CTO * Location Type: Hybrid * Employment Type: Full-time Permanent THE STARTUP * Our Mission: To build a UK-based deep technology company delivering next-generation of optical compute solutions by leveraging the incredible power of holography * Our Current Stage: Pre-seed 🎯 MISSION \& SUCCESS METRICS * The Mission: To build a UK-based deep technology company delivering next-generation of optical compute solutions by leveraging the incredible power of holography. Our photonics compute solutions addresses multiple market opportunities from a flexible holographic platform technology. * Near term: Applications of the technology include visual object recognition and tracking for industrial, robotics \& defence applications. The bigger opportunity to the application of the technology to next generation AI compute solution in the form of an all optical neural network. * Optical Neural Network’s dramatically improve performance, energy efficiency, scalability of AI workloads and offers a path to moving AI out of the data centre to the edge of the cloud and into mobile devices. What we are looking for. We are building a novel optical computing platform, and we are looking for an exceptional, hands-on Algorithm Engineer to help us take our designs from the computer screen and onto the physical world. You will have a core understanding of the principles of machine learning, familiar with moden neural network concepts, and the ability to adapt these to the framework imposed by our novel optical systems. Ideally, you will be fluent in MATLAB and Python with experience using TensorFlow and Pytorch, or the equivalent. You will be comfortable making system-level tradeoffs, and fluent in presenting data-driven justifications for design choices. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 1.    Rapid iteration, prototyping and testing of machine learning paradigms that are matched, and can be implemented, on our optical systems. 2.    Understanding of the interaction between the optical, software and silicon components of the Coherix technology stack, and the ability to manage tradioffs between the various elements in a data-driven way. 🤝 KEY COLLABORATIONS * Product Development team * Hardware Team Essential requirements: • A strong understanding of machine learning principles, physics informed learning and hardware in the loop principles. • Experience in development and deployment of ML systems in Python/Matlab using e.g. PyTorch/JAX/TensorFlow. • Understanding of optical systems, Fourier optics, diffractive or holographic components. • Hardware Interfacing:** C++/Python vendor SDKs (SLMs, CMOS cameras). • > 5 years practical experience of working with machine learning and AI development. An unbelievable and extermely rare opportunity to join a company that will be competing at the forefront of AI Technology enablement.... Huge upside. Reach out for more details.
